Alex Ross jumped into first-place nationally among Division III women in the 5,000 after her performance on Friday night in Fairfax, VA. Ross ran the fifth-fastest time in Johns Hopkins program history, crossing the finish line in 16:52.23 to move ahead of Trine's Evie Bultemeyer (16:53.05) for the top spot in Division III. Ross moved ahead of Caelyn Reilly into fifth in the JHU program record books.
Meet Highlights
- Annie Gutierrez did her weekly duty of putting forth a dominant effort, winning the pentathlon with a score of 3,396. The score is her second-highest total and the third-best pentathlon score in program history. She posted the third-fastest 60m hurdle time in program history (8.91) and posted strong numbers in the other events to win.
- Sophomore Gavin McElhennon jumped into the top-10 nationally in the 5,000, running the second-fastest time in program history (14:39.74). McElhennon's time is behind only former NCAA Outdoor Champion, Jared Pangallozzi. Bryce Thalheimer joined him under 15 minutes, jumping into the top-15 nationally at 14:57.54.
- Sydney Friedel, Molly Kuzma and Aishanee Wijeratna finished third, fourth and fifth behind Ross in the 5,000. Friedel finished in 17:39.81, her second-fastest time this season. Kuzma's time of 18:00.31 would place her 14th nationally and Wijeratna's time (18:05.14) was also her second-best time this season.
- Victoria Kadiri blew away her previous personal best in the pentathlon, totaling 3,190 points. Kadiri just sneaks into the program top-10, just grabbing the 10th spot from Emily Swenson (3,185).
