Women’s Swimming Drops Dual at Swarthmore

SWARTHMORE, Pa. –
Swarthmore College (7-2, 6-0 CC) won 10 of 11 events in handing Gettysburg College (8-1, 4-1 CC) its first loss of the season 137-68 in Centennial Conference dual competition Saturday afternoon.

Meet Highlights
  • Swarthmore opened the meet with a win in the 400 medley relay. The Garnet steadily pulled away and held off a late charge by Crilly over the final 100 yards to win the race in 4:00.14. Gettysburg finished in 4:01.77.
  • The Bullets finished runner-up in each of the next three races with freshman Lauren Manning (West Hartford, Conn./Conard) in the 1,000 free (10:51.55), Wojnar in the 200 free (1:58.95), and Crilly in the 50 free (24.84). Crilly was edged by Sara Vaules in the 50, but the Gettysburg senior came out on top in the next meeting with Vaules, cruising to victory in the 100 free in 54.45.
  • Freshman Elissa Clancy (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) picked up a second-place finish in the 100 fly at 1:01.02 behind a sub-minute time from Swarthmore's Liz Gallagher. Steph Tilneac nearly broke a minute in the 100 back in beating out Wasson for the top spot. Wasson finished the event in 1:00.80.
  • Wojnar added a second runner-up showing in the 500 free. Wojnar held a slight lead over Anna Lyn after 200 yards, but the Garnet swimmer took over in the next 50 yards and led for the remainder of the race. Lyn finished in 5:17.61 with Wojnar right behind at 5:19.10.
  • Swarthmore won the 400 free relay ahead of two Gettysburg teams with a time of 3:42.00.
 
Where the Series Stands Now
Swarthmore has won the last three meetings with Gettysburg. The Bullets lead the all-time series 33-4.
