How It Happened…
  • First Half:  Twelve minutes into the opening half, Muskus ripped from the left wing outside of the box as the ball slipped through Reyes' fingers for the first tally of the match. Muskus looked to extend the first-half lead as she blasted at the cage again eight minutes later, but Reyes denied it. The Orange and Blue outshot the Garnet 7-5 with the final target coming from sophomore Molly O'Shea (Reading, Pa./Wilson) as she had a great look with five minutes remaining, but the shot hit the crossbar.
  • Second Half: Five minutes into the half, the Bullets pushed their lead 2-0 when Priddy, who collected her second career goal, shot a low bouncing free kick from the left of the box. After the second tally, the Garnet pounded back-to-back-to-back shots on goal, but Cunningham did an outstanding job as she turned aside each one. Muskus registered her second and team's final goal of the night as she struck from the left of the box after receiving a pass from Klatt. Swarthmore's offense had no answer for breaking past the strong defensive unit in Gettysburg, as the Garnet only produced two shots, that both went wide, in the final 32 minutes of action.
Quote from the Coach
  • "A big win tonight for the team and program," said head coach Matt Garrett. "It came down to belief and trust, and I could not be prouder of the team."
By the Numbers
  • The Garnet held the slight 11-10 advantage in shots and corner kicks, 2-1.
  • The last time the Orange and Blue registered 11 plus wins in a season was back in 2016.
  • For the second time in four seasons, the Bullets captured their eighth shutout.
  • Gettysburg's last nationally ranked win came against then-ranked No. 22 Haverford College in 2015.
Centennial Conference Standings
  • With tonight's win, the Bullets sit in the fifth spot in the conference standings. Dickinson College holds the top position (11-1-4, 6-0-2 CC), while Johns Hopkins University is second (11-1-4), 5-0-3 CC), McDaniel College is third (13-4, 6-3 CC), and Haverford is fourth (11-2-2, 5-1-2 CC).
Where the Series Stands Now
The Bullets lead Swarthmore 23-9-3 in the all-time series that dates back to 1988. The Garnet had won the previous five meetings. The last time Gettysburg notched three or more goals on Swarthmore was back in 2004 when they won 6-0.
