The Muhlenberg baseball team could not recover from an early deficit in a 12-2 defeat to Swarthmore.

The Garnet (19-6, 6-1 CC) totaled 15 hits and piled up runs in seven of the first eight innings in building its lead. The Mules (10-14, 3-4 CC) could not keep pace, collecting only four hits in the game. The loss puts the Mules one game back of fourth place in the Centennial Conference standings.

Muhlenberg's biggest hit came in the third inning when junior
Chris Grillo lined a ball into the right-center gap for his fourth triple of the season. The hit allowed sophomore
Brenden Weiss to score and cut the deficit to 3-1 at the time.

Billy Brittingham also knocked in a run in the sixth, hitting a single over the first baseman to drive home Grillo. Brittingham now has 13 RBIs on the season.
