SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Soccer honored seniors
Maddy Carens,
Sydney Covitz,
Seneca Kinn-Gurzo, Elenore Moser,
Louise Rosler and
Emma Tapp at Saturday evenings outing with the Gettysburg College Bullets.
The Garnet (10-5 overall, 4-4 Centennial Conference) slipped 3-0 against the visiting Bullets (11-2-1, 5-2-1 CC). Swarthmore out-paced the Bullets in the shot column 11-10 but were unable to get anything past Gettysburg goal keeper Maddie Cunningham who finished with seven saves.
Chantal Reyes recorded three saves for Swarthmore.
Sophia Stills and
Lizzie King each posted two shots on goal. Carens, Kinn-Gurzo and
Nikki Gibbons each put one on frame as well.
The Bullets found the back of the net in the 13th minute on the first of two goals for their leading scorer on the year, Erika Muskus. Gettysburg added more damage in the 50th minute and finished off the scoring on the night in the 67th minute.
The shutout is just the third suffered by the Garnet this year. Swarthmore looks to bounce back with a home game against Muhlenberg on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The Garnet are still chasing one of the five playoff spots and sit in seventh in the league with two games to go.
