GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Washington College men's swim team went 1-1 in its season opening tri-meet against Dickinson and host Gettysburg at Bullets Pool in Centennial Conference men's swimming action on Saturday afternoon. Washington topped Dickinson 142-119, while falling to host Gettysburg 149-112. The Shoremen won eight of the 14 events on the day.

Shoremen Highlights

Gage Mandrell won all three individual events he competed in. The senior won the 50 freestyle (21.34), 200 freestyle (1:45.27) and the 200 backstroke (1:55.58).

Chase Hensen was one of two Shoremen to win two events on the afternoon. The sophomore took first place in the 100 freestyle (49.08) and the 100 breaststroke (1:00.24).
- Also capturing two events for Washington was
Zach Affeldt as the sophomore grabbed first in the 200 individual medley (2:01.08) and the 200 breaststroke (2:11.62). Affeledt finished third in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.72) as WC finished first and third in the event.
- The 400 freestyle relay team of Mandrell, Hensen,
William Schmidt and
Justin Fitzpatrick notched first place with a time of 3:13.16.
- Fitzpatrick was second in the 100 butterfly (53.82) and Schmidt was third in the 100 backstroke (55.29).
Notes
- The Shoremen are now 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the Centennial. The Bullets, who downed Dickinson 177-84 to complete the tri-meet are 2-0 and 2-0 respectively. The Red Devils are 0-2 overall and 0-2 in the Centennial.
