HAVERFORD, Pa. - In a dominating home display, the Haverford College men's tennis team swept Goucher, 9-0 in a tennis match held Thursday afternoon at the Bramall Courts. The victory improves Haverford's record to 9-7 overall heading into the final weekend of the regular season while the Gophers fall to 6-9.

The Fords took control of the match right from the start, winning all three doubles matches comfortably. The team of Justin Minerva and Adam Chow won 8-1 at second doubles, while James McKenzie and Stefan Johnson cruised to an 8-2 win at the top position. Aiden Kim and Max Beckwith completed the sweep with an 8-3 victory at third doubles, sending things triumphantly into the singles portion of the afternoon.

In singles play, Haverford continued their dominance over the Gophers. First-year Niki Lavu led the way with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Goucher's Theo Lucke at sixth singles. Kirin Eicher followed suit, winning 6-2, 6-0 at fifth singles. James McKenzie won 6-0, 6-3 at second singles, while Andreas Wingert and Justin Minerva each won by identical 6-1, 6-1 scores at first and third singles, respectively.

Adam Chow's match at fourth singles was the closest of the day, as he battled Tadeo Asprella in a three-set thriller. After splitting the first two sets, Chow emerged victorious in the super-breaker, winning in a 10-0 rout to complete the sweep.

The win was an important one for Haverford, as they look to continue to build momentum and cohesion heading into the postseason. The team has faced a challenging schedule this season, putting themselves in a strong position for Centennial Conference tournament success despite some early season setbacks. With the regular season winding down, the Fords will look to carry their strong play into the conference tournament next week.

Haverford will return to action on Saturday, hosting Dickinson for Senior Day on the Bramall Courts in an 11 a.m contest. Haverford will honor seniors Jason Edmonds and Abhinav Nallapareddy prior to first serve with the Red Devils.
