Santangelo Lifts JHU Over McDaniel, 1-0

This is the fifth straight shutout for the Blue Jays

• Records: JHU (12-1-0, 6-0 CC) • McDaniel (7-4, 4-3 CC)
• Location: Baltimore, MD • Homewood Field
• The Short Story: The No. 4 Johns Hopkins women's soccer team earned its fifth straight shutout victory as a Michelle Santangelo goal in the first half proved to be more than enough as the Blue Jays remained perfect in Centennial Conference play with a 1-0 win over McDaniel on Wednesday afternoon.

How it Happened
Maggie Coulson almost put the Blue Jays up 1-0 in the 19th minute on a free kick but McDaniel keeper Katherine Carstensen made a diving save to tip the ball away and keep the contest scoreless.
• JHU broke the scoreless tie at 26:22 when Mizuho Obayashi sent a pass to Michelle Santangelo who put the shot past Carstensen for the 1-0 lead.
Rachel Jackson put a point-blank shot on Carstensen early in the second half but the freshman's shot was saved to keep McDaniel within one.
• Lindsey Farrell had a great opportunity to tie the match in the 65th minute, however, her shot sailed wide of the cage.
• McDaniel had another great opportunity to get even in the 83rd minute on a Maddie Schwartz free kick, but once again the shot went wide of the net and Hopkins held on for the 1-0 win.
