Game Notes

  • Kyle Roche rounded into form in an outstanding seven inning, three hit, nine strikeout performance against Haverford this weekend. It marks the fifth time in six starts that the senior righty has punched out 8+ opponents via the strikeout.

  • Bobby Falese now sits just TWO RBI behind the Diplomats' all-time leader for a season with four games left on the regular season docket. His two dinger effort early in the week against Washington also lands him just two homers shy of the single season record of ten.

          • Falese now ranks tops in the Centennial with his 47 RBI and tied for third with Jakob Hoffman in homers with eight.

  • Spencer Berson has now reached base safely in 19 straight games, collecting six hits and a pair of walks to keep it going.

          • Berson's stretch goes back even further, reaching base via hit or walk in 27 of his last 28, and 30 of his 33 total games.

  • Jakob Hoffman landed in the record books, but not for the reason you'd think. His elbow pad has been getting extra work in this season, now the recipient of 14 plunkings - now tops in the F&M records for hit-by-pitches in a season.

  • Hoffman also kept his hitting streak alive this past week, now smacking at least a single in 13 straight games dating back to the beginning of the month.

  • Pat Elliott has set the table well for the Diplomats over the past week+, now hitting 10-of-19 from the dish with seven runs in his last five games.

          • These past five games raised Elliott's batting average 63 points from .232 after Game 1 against Johns Hopkins on April 16 to .295 after this weekend.

          • Elliott tripled to center, then came home on a sacrifice fly on April 19 against Washington - similar to his triple to right-center against Ursinus that set the table for a game-winning run two weeks earlier.

  • AJ Desautels keeps swiping bags at a feverish pace, now ranking third in the Centennial with 17. The speedster has only been caught once in his 18 attempts.

  • Thomas McLaughlin earned his second save of the year, coming in and striking out three across 1.2 innings of work against Washington on Tuesday.

  • Noah Jordan also had a nice run out of the pen to finish of F&M's 15-3 victory over Haverford on Saturday. His four strikeouts combined with Roche's 9 sent a baker's dozen down on strikes.

  • Shoutout to Shane Rebane for his first career win against Haverford, tossing an inning of scoreless relief in F&M's 8-7 win.

  • PLAYOFF WATCH: F&M sits tied atop of the Centennial standings. A clean sweep of the week would be ideal, and give F&M hosting privileges through the CC postseason. Things will likely come down to the wire, as a date with Swarthmore awaits on the weekend with both teams at 11-3 in CC play entering the week.
