SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – In nearly two years, the Gettysburg College women's cross country team competed in a collegiate race, opening the 2021 season under the lights at the Shippensburg University Galen Piper Alumni Open/Cross Country Challenge Friday night.

Race Highlights
- Addesso paced the Bullets with a 15th place showing, clocking 16:29.2 on the 4K course. In her first collegiate race, Proto was close behind, finishing 18th in 16:47.4.
- Cantrell was the next Bullets' finisher, taking 20th in 16:53.0.
- Rounding out the team score was freshman Emily Trout (Ocean View, Del./Sussex Academy), who placed 21st in 16:53.1, and freshman Keara Skae (Old Tappan, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy), who took 27th in 17:10.6.
- Finishing as displacers were May Berger (Bel Air, Md./The John Carroll School), who placed 29th in 17:14.5, and senior Ashlyn Booher (Boling Springs, Pa./Boling Springs), who took 34th in 17:21.7.
- The Bullets enetered today's race ranked ninth in the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional ranking by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
- The last time Gettysburg competed in a race was on November 16, 2019, at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional.
- The race marked the seventh year in a row that Gettysburg opened the season with a night meet.
- Teams from Division II and Division III competed in today's race.
