If their first trip to Franklin & Marshall is any indication, the Muhlenberg track and field teams should enjoy success when they return for next month's Centennial Conference Championships.
The Mules combined for one school record, one first-place finish and five all-time top 10 performances at the Coach I Open, a large meet with more than 20 schools competing.
The school record was by freshman
Elek Ferency, who in his Mule debut broke the week-old mark in the weight throw, setting a new standard of 37-8. Muhlenberg competed in the weight throw for the first time ever last week.
Ferency also placed eighth in the shot put, entering the all-time performance list in 10th place.Â
Senior
Jason Richwall was responsible for the first-place finish, winning the 3000 meters by more than six seconds with a regional-qualifying time.
Sophomore
Ben Arehart cleared an indoor-personal-best 6-0¾ in the high jump to place second and land ninth on the all-time performance list.
Two Mule women put their names on the performance list for the first time, sophomore
Adebisi Adetoye (pictured above left) in the 400 meters (10th) and freshman
Lily Benanchietti in the pole vault (tied for ninth).
Sophomore
Scotty Grigas (pictured above right) set an indoor personal best of 23.64 to place seventh in the 200.
