Kayla Sembly led all players with a career-high 19 points and the Swarthmore College women's basketball team finished 20-of-24 from the free throw line, but it was not enough to overcome the homestanding Johns Hopkins Blue Jays on Thursday, Dec. 1.
Hopkins prevailed by an 81-69 score behind 12 makes from three-point range.

Lindsay O'Sullivan scored in double figures for the sixth consecutive game with 10 points and senior
Maggie O'Neil filled the box score with 12 rebounds, seven points, three blocks, two assists and a steal.
Sembly dropped 11 points on six shots in the first quarter as the Garnet raced ahead to a 25-16 lead after one. In the second, a layup by
Raina Williams put Swarthmore ahead by six, but a 13-0 run from the Blue Jays put the hosts ahead.
Melanie Ackerman hit a three to make it 39-35 just 30 seconds before halftime.
The Garnet offense struggled in the third quarter with a 25 percent mark from the field and Hopkins added to its advantage. In the fourth, Swarthmore outscored the Blue Jays, 22-21, including a 12-2 run to get within eight before Hopkins closed it out at the line.
Swarthmore plays its third conference game of the week when it hosts Dickinson on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 1 p.m.
