Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

No. 1 Garnet Ground Ospreys

SWARTHMORE, Pa.—No. 1 Swarthmore College Men's Basketball improved to 4-0 with a rout of the visiting Stockton University Ospreys on Saturday evening.

Led by 16 points from senior big man Zac O'Dell, Swarthmore cruised to an 84-54 win.

Stockton dipped to 2-2 with the loss; a 14-point effort from Kyion Flanders headlined the visitors' box score.

Swarthmore's defense stifled Stockton. The Garnet finished with 10 blocks and three steals and kept Stockton to just a 28.1 percent performance from the floor and 15.8 percent from 3-point range. The guests didn't help their own cause from the charity stripe by shooting just 65.2 percent there.

Senior forward Nate Shafer blocked five shots, O'Dell denied three, and George Visconti and Justin Tucker each rejected one.

Visconti pitched in 14 points while going 5-for-10 from the floor. Conor Harkins tallied a season high 12 points while sinking four 3-pointers. Ryan Ingram connected for 11 points.

Colin Shaw scored eight and had a game-high 12 rebounds. Shafer finished with a well-rounded "quadruple nickel" stat line; in addition to his five blocks, he had six rebounds, six assists and six points.

Swarthmore never trailed on Saturday night and the 30-point lead at the end of the game was the largest of the night.

The Garnet begin Centennial Conference play on Tuesday night at home against Washington College. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
