ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Behind a top-ten performance from senior
Jordan Pick, the Ursinus College men's golf team placed fifth at the Muhlenberg Spring Invitational.
The Bears had five members compete at the Lehigh Country Club, a par-70 course that stretches over 6,415 yards. Ursinus finished fifth overall with a team total of 329 (+49) with Dickinson College winning the team title behind a team tally of 297 (+17). Albright College placed second with a score of 314 (+34), Moravian took home third place (320, +40), and Delaware Valley rounded out the top-four teams with a score of 326 (+46).
Pick recorded a season low score of a seven-over 77 behind an impressive eagle on the par-5 sixth hole and tallied a birdie on the par-4 12
th hole. He finished just two shots over on the front nine with a score of 37 and closed out the final nine holes with a 40. Pick was just one of three players all day to record an eagle on the par-5 sixth hole.
Junior
Evan Coffey turned in the second lowest of the day for the Bears with an 11-over 81 for a tied for 16
th-place finish. Coffey tallied a 39 on the back nine behind birdies on the par-4 14th hole and the par-4 18
th holes. Teammate
Nick Troha finished just one-shot behind with a tied for 23
rd finish signing for a 12-over 82. Troha finished strong on the back nine collecting four straight pars from holes 13 through 16.
First-year
Alec Plante finished just four shots shy from his previous best round of 85 at the Turtle Creek Intercollegiate in October of the fall season. Plante finished tied for 38
th overall behind a final tally of 89 (+19). Senior
T.J. Stanton rounded out the five Bears competing finishing tied for 43
rd with a final score of 93. Stanton day was highlighted with a birdie on the par-4 14
th hole.
The Bears return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for the Moravian Spring Classic starting at 1pm.
