COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's wrestling opened their 2023 calendar season with a 3-1 record while hosting the Manganaro Duals on Saturday at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center.
The Bears dropped their opening match to Trinity (25-19) but bounced back with three straight victories over Rhode Island College (42-9), SUNY Oneonta (29-17), and Messiah University (27-13). They stand at 5-3 in dual meets this season and will host the Will Abele Invitational next Saturday at 10 a.m.
Seniors
Terry Adams (125lbs),
Gary Nagle (184lbs), and
Kyle Schaffer (197lbs) each finished with a perfect record throughout the day.
"We wrestled very well today, and we are incredibly excited to have Gary and Kyle back in the lineup," Director of Wrestling
Joe Jamison said. "We took a tough loss against Trinity, and we were able to bounce back for the next three duals. We made some mistakes in that match and hats off to Trinity; they wrestled incredibly tough. What pleased us the most as a coaching staff was the team's ability to correct the mistakes, we made in that first dual and perform the way we did the rest of the day. We have some work to do, but overall, we did a great job today".
