GETTYSBURG, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Cross Country repeated its fourth-place performance at the Centennial Conference Championship on Saturday by posting a score of 125. Swarthmore's score in 2019 was 12 points better than in 2018.

Conditions on the 8K course at Gettysburg College were favorable, with temperatures in the low 50s and clear skies. Swarthmore averaged a time of 26:35 and had its top seven all finish scoring in the top-35.

Sophomore Brendan Penfold again led the Garnet on Saturday, cruising to 21st overall and the 19th score with a time of 26:14.2. Senior Vaughn Parts added 21 points, crossing the finish line in 26:18.4.

Two freshmen provided Swarthmore's third and fourth scores. Rookie Aidan Cantine posted a time of 26:33.7 for 24 points, and Casey White crossed in 26:48.3 for 29 points.

Another underclassman, sophomore Ethan Rothenberg contributed to Swarthmore's score with the 32nd-best scoring time, 27:02.9.

Senior Lucas Heinzerling registered Swarthmore's sixth time (27:07.0), and Evan Baker, the seventh (27:12.4).

Swarthmore has now finished among the top four teams in the Centennial Championship in eight of the past 10 championships.

The Garnet set their sights on the NCAA Regionals on Nov. 16 at Lehigh University.
