Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Edged by No. 7 Gettysburg

The Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team battled from behind all game and came up just short in an 11-10 loss to No. 7 Gettysburg.

The thrilling game featured four goals in the final minute and also some career milestones:

• Sophomore Ethan Grossman recorded seven points to tie the program's all-time record of 123 in a career. He needed just 28 games to tie the mark and will get a chance to claim the top spot all alone when the Mules host Washington College on Friday night.

• Junior Garrett Pope made a career-high 19 saves, including 14 in the first half to keep Muhlenberg in the game despite a deficit in possession and shots.

• Junior Frankie Feaster won 13 of 25 faceoffs and picked up 10 ground balls, going over 300 ground balls for his career. Through Wednesday's games, only 13 other active Division III players had accumulated 300 ground balls.

Feaster's faceoff win and pass to Grossman for a goal started a 3-0 second-quarter run that brought the Mules (8-2, 1-1) even after trailing 4-1. The Bullets (8-3, 2-1) scored late in the first half and twice early in the second half to open up a 7-4 lead.

It was 9-7 in the fourth quarter before the wild finish. With the shot clock winding down, sophomore Thomas Murphy scored his second goal of the season off a pass from Grossman to make it 9-8 with 1:28 remaining.

The Bullets regained their two-goal lead with an empty-net goal with 53.8 ticks on the clock, but freshman James Dalimonte scored with 36.1 showing to make it a one-goal game again.

Gettysburg scored directly off the next faceoff to make it 11-9, and Dalimonte's third goal with 4.2 seconds left accounted for the final score.

Sophomore PJ Lombara and junior Bobby McLoughlin also scored goals for the Mules, with Lombara's coming on a behind-the-back shot in the third quarter.

Sophomore Michael Fodi (pictured above) picked up three ground balls, and sophomore Alexander Giaquinto caused four turnovers.
