Johns Hopkins Rolls to 9-0 Win at McDaniel

The Basics

• The Short Story: The 25th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 win at McDaniel Tuesday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.
 
How it Happened
• The Blue Jays lost just two games in doubles and four in singles. Freshman Eric Burrer and sophomore Alex Matisse beat Luke Shuck and Tate Myers, 8-2, at first doubles. Sophomore Jack Hogan and freshman Brian Wang needed just eight games to beat Jimmy Wawrzynski and Quinn Burker at second. Sophomore Matt Lurie and freshman Naevin Anukornchaikul turned the same trick at third in their win over Justin Arter and Aidan Finnerty.
• Anukornchaikul dropped just one game in his win over Shuck at first singles. Wang didn't lose a game as he defeated Burker at second. Lurie then beat Wawrzynski 6-0, 6-3 at third.
• With the match decided, the final three matches were played in eight-game pro sets. Burrer beat Myers 8-0 at fourth. Hogan and Matisse won by the same score at fifth and sixth respectively.   
 
What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 66-11 all-time against McDaniel and has won 22 straight in the series.
 
Up Next
• Hopkins returns to action on Saturday as the Blue Jays host the Haverford Fords. The Blue Jays and the Fords are the only two unbeaten teams left in the Centennial Conference.
