Johns Hopkins Blanks Ursinus, 2-0

The Basics
• Score: #5 Johns Hopkins-2, Ursinus-0
• Records: JHU (12-2-1, 5-1-1 CC) • UC (5-8-2, 0-6-1 CC)
• Location: Collegeville, PA • Patterson Field
• The Short Story: The fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins men's soccer team used a pair of second-half goals to defeat host Ursinus, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.

How it Happened
• After a scoreless first half, the Blue Jays wasted little time getting on the board in the second. Junior RJ Moore played the ball down the right side to sophomore Jake Kooyman. In a one-one-one deep in the Bears' end, Kooyman calmly chipped the ball over Ursinus goalie Tyler Lewin in the 54th minute for what proved to be the game-winner.
• Less than five minutes later, JHU nearly got a second goal when junior Jonathon Brown's shot beat Lewin, but a Bears' defender was able to clear it away.
• Hopkins added an insurance goal in the 77th minute, to put some distance between itself and Ursinus. In a play reminiscent of the first goal, Moore played the ball to junior Nate Charendoff, who lifted the ball over an on-coming Lewin and into the back of the goal.

What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 38-7-2 all-time against Ursinus and is unbeaten in the last 24 meetings with the Bears.
• JHU sits two points behind league leader Franklin & Marshall with two games to play in conference. Hopkins is also just one point ahead of third-place Dickinson, with the two set to meet in the regular season finale on November 2.
