CHICAGO, Ill - No. 24 Swarthmore College Men's Swimming swam top times at the highly competitive D3 Shootout held at the University of Chicago this past weekend.
Swarthmore added top-ten program times and a pair of NCAA B Cut times in the very competitive meet that featured eight schools from eight states, including perennial top-ten programs in Chicago, Washington University and Pomona.
Ben Freeman and
Andrew Karpenko put forth top times in their respective events. Freeman finished the 200-free in a time of 1:40.01, which ranks him sixth in all of Division III and still number three on the Swarthmore list. Karpenko won the 100-breast in 55.91, which ranks the sophomore fourth all-time on Swarthmore history. The time now ranks the sophomore third in Division III. The pair each saw NCAA B Cut times in those events.
Karpenko teamed up with
Horace Shew,
Jeremy Rockaway and
Ben Wesley to swim the eighth best time in Division III in the 200-medley. The team finished the event in 1:32.31, which is seventh in Swarthmore history.
Rockaway finished the 100-fly in 50.07, which is fourth on the Garnet all-time list. In the 100-breast, Wesley added the eighth best time in Swarthmore history with a mark of 2:09.47.
In the 400-IM,
Tristan Haeger swam a 4:07.97, while Karpenko finished in 4:09.83.
Swarthmore returns to the pool on December 3rd as they compete in the Gettysburg Invitational.
