Bullets Fall to No. 23 SUNY Cortland

Gettysburg, Pa.- Four different players scored a goal for SUNY Cortland as the 23rd-ranked Red Dragons defeated Gettysburg 4-1 in non-conference action at Clark Field Saturday evening.

The Bullets are now 1-3-1 all-time against the Red Dragons. The last time the two teams met was in 1991 where Gettysburg defeated SUNY Cortland 1-0.

The Bullets took an early 1-0 lead in the seventh minute of the first half when junior Bobby Weikert (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) netted his second career goal off a header on a corner kick from sophomore Sam Lerman (Wayzata, Minn./Field School). The Red Dragons then tied the contest in the 27th minute to head into halftime with the 1-1 draw. SUNY Cortland outshot Gettysburg by a slim 7-6 margin in the first half as the two teams battled it out throughout the whole 45 minutes.

The Red Dragons soared in the second half as they scored in the 46th, 67th, and 69th minutes to assume the 4-1 victory.  

SUNY Cortland outscored Gettysburg 17-12, while also holding the 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Junior goalkeeper Thomas Keane accumulated five saves, while Sean Kelly notched four saves for the Red Dragons.

The Bullets return to action Sept. 8 at The College of New Jersey(TCNJ) for a 1 p.m. matchup.
