The Muhlenberg women's basketball team allowed only eight field goals over the final three quarters, coming from behind to defeat William Paterson, 65-42, and win its fourth consecutive Scotty Wood Tournament championship.

Sara Dilly was named tournament MVP after scoring a game-high 13 points to go along with 5 assists and 6 steals in the final. Senior
Carley Hamilton recorded her first career double-double (10 points, 11 rebounds) and was selected to the all-tournament team.

Emily O'Mahoney (12 points) and
Madison Kirchofer (10) also scored in double figures.

The Mules (3-0) trailed by five at the end of the first quarter and were still down five (20-15) midway through the second period before turning the game around with their defense. The closed out the half on a 15-2 run, holding the Pioneers (1-2) without a field goal for the final 6:37.

Dilly hit two three-pointers in the big run and also came up with a steal that led to a layup by Hamilton.

Muhlenberg continued its surge at the start of the second half, scoring the first seven points – capped by a three from junior
Emilie Benton – to widen the lead to 15, at 37-22.

Tara Szawaluk made it 41-24 before William Paterson finally made its first field goal in more than 12 minutes.

The Mules allowed only one field goal in the fourth quarter to turn the game into a runaway. The final period also saw the game's oddest play, when Kirchofer's pass was deflected by a Pioneer player and went in the basket for two Muhlenberg points.

Ashley Polera recorded 8 assists, one off her career high, and senior
Eva Sodaitis scored 6 points, her most since her freshman season.

Through three games, Muhlenberg is holding its opponents to an average of 42.3 points. It's the first time since the pre-shot clock year of 1976 that the Mules have kept their first three opponents under 50 points.
