SWARTHMORE, PA. - Swarthmore College Men's Tennis earned a pair of sweeps as they defeated Ursinus College and New York University on Saturday. The Garnet improve to 4-0 and 2-0 in Centennial Conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the morning match against the Bears,
Rushil Patel and
Charley Force took care of business in the No. 2 doubles spot as they won their match, 8-2.
Max Pogorelov and
Minh Nguyen clinched Swarthmore a second point as they won their match, 8-3.
John Nichols-Daly and
Grant Dill added an 8-2 victory in the top doubles spot.
- In singles action,
Josiah Myers-Lipton earned a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the top singles spot. Pogorelov earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory as he was the first to earn a point for the Garnet in singles play.
- The afternoon session saw Patel, Force, Dill, Nichols-Daly, Myers-Lipton and
Phil Rehwinkel get the Garnet off to a 3-0 start with a sweep in doubles action.
- Force earned a hard fought 6-2, 7-6 victory in the top singles spot. Patel clinched the match for the Garnet as he won his match over Joseph He, 6-3,6-4.
