BALTIMORE, Md. - No. 16 Swarthmore College Men's Basketball knocked off No. 12 Johns Hopkins University, 78-69, in a Centennial Conference battle on Tuesday night. The Garnet improve to 12-1 overall and 6-0 in Centennial Conference action, while the Blue Jays fall to 9-2 and 5-1.

After a pair of free throws from George Visconti, the Swarthmore defense forced Hopkins to call a timeout with 3:55 left in the game. Out of the timeout, the Blue Jays turned over the ball with a shot clock violation. With the help of Vinny DeAngelo on the ensuing possession, Conor Harkins knocked down a three-pointer to give the Garnet a 66-64 advantage. The Visconti free throws started a 17-5 run to close out the last four plus minutes of the game for Swarthmore.

Swarthmore opened the second half with four consecutive free throws from Michael Caprise and DeAngelo. The Blue Jays answered with a 7-0 run, which was stopped by a Caprise three-pointer.

In the first half, Hopkins opened the game with a 12-2 run. Swarthmore answered with a three-minute, 8-0 run that saw DeAngleo and Visconti each hitting a shot from behind the arc. Abass Sallah added a pair of free throws during that run. With 2:34 remaining in the opening frame, DeAngelo gave Swarthore its first lead of the game at 27-25 with a driving layup. A Harkins three with just over a minute remaining and an Aidan Godfrey layup with 38-seconds left gave the Garnet a 32-31 advantage into the half-time break.
