FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Haverford College baseball team (5-5) wrapped up the Spring Break trip with a morning contest against Muskingum (7-3) today, falling 21-9 despite mounting a seven-run first inning in a wild offensive game between Haverford and the program from Concord, Ohio.

The Fords got to work offensively straight out of the gates, striking for seven runs in an electric top of the first. With one out, Zach Becker and Harry Genth each singled, setting the stage for a booming double into the gap by Zach Landry to plate a pair. Jack Wallis then singled through the left side of the infield, Zach Crampton found a hole with his hit through the middle, and Kyle Beach was hit by a pitch to load the bases for first year Anthony Runfola. Already with three runs in and just one out, Runfola had the big blast of the inning as he connected on a grand slam to put the Fords up 7-0 in the top of the first.

Muskingum countered with four runs in their first inning rally against Haverford starter Josh Fuller, and added a solo home run in the second inning against reliever Wyatt Mattison

Runfola connected on his second homer of the contest to lead off the top of the fourth, and a sacrifice fly from Landry plated another run for the Fords in a four-hit frame. Unfortunately, for the Fords, they would muster just one more hit in the remainder of the contest as the Muskies rallied with three runs in the fourth, five in the fifth, one in the sixth, and seven in the seventh to wrestle command of the contest.

After a 5-3 run through the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic,  Haverford now returns to the Keystone State, with action resuming on Friday as Haverford heads to Widener for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch against the Pride. Haverford then heads up the Main Line to Cabrini for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 19. The Fords host No. 10 Rowan for the home opener on March 21 and Immaculata on March 22 to begin the following week of action.
