GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's tennis will continue its march into the postseason for the first time after clinching the fifth and final spot in the Centennial Conference Championship with a 6-3 win over Ursinus College Saturday afternoon.
 
Gettysburg (11-7, 6-4 CC), which clinched its first 11-win season since 2008, finished a game ahead of Washington College (7-8, 5-5 CC) for the final playoff spot. The Bullets will take on the fourth seed, Franklin & Marshall College (9-6, 7-3 CC), on Tuesday, April 30. The time of the match will be determined on Monday.
 
The Orange and Blue surged in front by winning two of the three doubles matches. Ursinus (9-11, 3-7 CC) took the initial lead with an 8-3 win at No. 3, but junior Samantha Boardman (Greenwich, Conn./Brooks School) and sophomore Amanda Vinges (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) surged to an 8-3 win at the top spot with Boardman sealing the victory with a service ace. Seniors Maddie Class (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) and Maria Martinovic (Lawrence Township, N.J./Princeton Day School) won two of the final three games to close out an 8-6 win at the second flight.
 
Gettysburg capped the victory with straight-set wins by Martinovic, Boardman, Class, and junior Ava Vanhelfteren (Fort Wayne, Ind./Canterbury). Martinovic moved into sixth on the program's career list for total wins with her 67th following a 6-2, 7-5 decision over Caitlyn Sorelle at No. 1. Boardman made short work of Brenna Trkula at the third flight with a 6-1, 6-3 victory. Class won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 and Vanhelfteren picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5.
