Women’s Track & Field Earns Five First Place Finishes at the McElligott Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's track & field team competed in the McElligott Invitational on Saturday morning. 

Alyssa Zhang led the Garnet with a pair of victories in the long jump and triple jump. Krystle Boadi, Nora Blodgett and Adria Retter also claimed first place finishes for Swarthmore in their respective events.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS
- Boadi took first overall in the 60-meter dash with an 8.18 mark. The effort marked the junior's second fastest mark of the season. Boadi also excelled in the 400-meter dash - earning a second place finish, while setting a new personal-best time of 1:02.14.

- The Garnet swept first, second and third place honors in the 3,000-meter run. Blodgett led the trio with a personal-best of 10:35.73 to claim first overall. Maddie Farber and Cat Crochunis-Brown finished behind Blodgett with times of 11:24.83 and 11:31.25, respectively. Farber's effort marked a new personal record. 

- Retter took first overall in the shot put with a personal-best distance of 13.04, while Megan Bickford's distance of 9.85 was good for second overall. Retter also claimed second in the weight throw, while setting another personal record of 14.25. 

- Zhang and Kiara Abbey took first and second, respectively, in the long jump. Zhang edged out her teammate with a top mark of 4.76m, while Abbey recorded a top distance of 4.75m. Zhang also won the triple jump with a personal-best of 10.25m. 

- Emma Novak and Emily van Assendelft placed second and third respectively in the mile run. Novak clocked a time of 5:46.52, while van Assendelft fell just short of a personal record with a 5:59.14 finish.

- Morgan Mouer earned a third place effort in the 800-meter run. The first-year crossed the finish line at 2:30.67 to place behind two Widener runners.
