Wrestling Wins Big at Scranton

The Muhlenberg wrestling team scored five different types of wins in the first five bouts and went on to a 37-9 win at Scranton.

Junior Joey Lamparelli got the Mules (5-2) off to a good start, building an 8-1 lead after one period and pinning his opponent 28 seconds into the second period.

Junior Ricky Caamano followed by recording seven takedowns in his 133-pound bout, the final coming with just 3 seconds remaining to extend his lead to 19-4 and finish off the technical fall.

Junior Christopher Dalmau (pictured above) took down his opponent as the first-period buzzer sounded, then added three more takedowns in the final two periods en route to a 10-2 major decision.

At 149, freshman Trey Miletics led 8-2 less than a minute into the bout when his opponent suffered an injury and could not continue.

Junior Riley McHale was taken down in the opening seconds of his 157-pound bout but escaped, and later in the period he recorded a takedown and a four-point near-fall that was the key to his 11-4 victory.

The pin, technical fall, major decision, injury default and decision gave Muhlenberg a 24-0 lead halfway through the match.

Senior Ronnie Grevera took down his opponent with just a few seconds left in the third period to add a major decision at 174, and freshman Ryan Fairchild notched his fifth pin of the season at 184.

The closest bout was at 197, where senior Greg Grigorian and his opponent each recorded two takedowns and three escapes to forge a 7-7 tie early in the third period. Grigorian went ahead on a takedown with 1:12 left, then fended off a pair of shots after his opponent escaped to hang on for the 10-8 win.
