HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's soccer team (3-1-3, 0-0-2 CC) played to a scoreless draw against Washington College (3-1-3, 0-0-2) on Wednesday afternoon at Walton Field. Haverford extended its shutout streak against Washington College to 17 consecutive contests, as the Fords have not allowed a goal to the Shorewomen since 2004. The two teams have been knotted in scoreless draws in each of the last three meetings dating back to 2019.

Washington College had an early flick on goal from Rachel Chatfield, but a team save was made to clear the ball off the backline in the seventh minute. Haverford then put a few shots of their own on target, with Nora Gaby-Biegel tallying an attempt on frame in the 23rd minute of play.

In the 36th minute, Sarah Klink had perhaps the best chance of the contest for either side as she was in perfect position to receive a cross of a corner kick from Celia Page. Klink attempted a header but it went right off the post and rattled back into the box where the Shorewomen defense was able to deal with the challenge as the two sides ultimately entered the intermission scoreless.

Haverford registered much of the offensive momentum in the contest, with Klink and Keira Prince both tallying shots in the early goings of the second period off a corner kick from Page. Page rocketed a shot of her own on target in the 59th minute, and a late charge saw Grace Haskell and Sadie Kim each tally strong shots with Haverford applying pressure in the attacking third looking to break the ice.

The Fords had one of the best chances of the second half in the final minute, after a failed clear from the Washington College backline gave Haverford the ball back in its attacking third before the visitors' defense was able to scramble back into place to prevent an open look on frame that would have almost certainly gave Haverford the late lead.

The contest finished with Haverford holding a 9-5 edge in shots. Claire Cywes made two saves in her 90 minutes of action between the pipes, picking up her third shutout of the season. Paige and Klink were the only players from either side with multiple shots on the day.

The Fords now return to action on Saturday, traveling to fourth-ranked Johns Hopkins for a 3 p.m. kickoff with the Blue Jays at Homewood Field. The Fords are next home on Tuesday, September 27 for the annual Pride Night Game against Immaculata (4 p.m.) on Walton Field.
