Newville, Pa. – Senior Matt Robinson (Taneytown, Md./Pinkerton Academy (N.H.)) and senior Alex Petrecca (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) led the Gettysburg College men's cross country team at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational on Saturday at Big Spring High School. This is the first time since the 2015 season that the Bullets participated in the invitational.
Gettysburg finished with a combined team score of 103 to place fourth out of five teams that earned a team score in both the 4,000- and 8,000-meter races. The Bullets scored 51 points in the 4K to finish fifth among 11 teams, and they posted a score of 52 in the 8K to come in fifth.
Robinson finished 13 among 94 runners in the 4K and was timed at 12:48. Other top finishers in the race were sophomore Dylan McKeever (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East) who placed right behind in 14th (12:50), and sophomore Christian Rodriguez (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey), who came in 31st in 13:28.
In the 8K, Petrecca was clocked at 27:12 as he took 13th in a field of 62. He was followed by freshman William Hopkins (Raleigh, N.C./Needham B. Broughton), who placed 26th in 28:09, and freshman Patrick Neighbour (Milford, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional), who finished 32nd in 28:33 to round out the team scoring.
Gettysburg returns to action on Saturday, September 29, at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University.
