• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins baseball team fell behind early but four unanswered runs helped propel the Blue Jays to a 5-2 victory on the road against Gettysburg College on Tuesday afternoon.

How it Happened
• Gettysburg got on the board first in the second inning, taking advantage of a Hopkins throwing error to score Andrew Decker and take a 1-0 lead.
• Tim Kutcher walked and advanced to third on a Mike Eberle double and a sacrifice fly from Chris DeGiacomo scored Kutcher and tied the game at one in the fifth inning.
• After Bullets scored in the second, Bunting retired the next 13 Gettysburg batters in order heading into the seventh.
• JHU took the lead in the seventh as the Bullets intentionally walked Eberle to bring up DeGiacomo with the bases loaded and one walk. The graduate student made the Bullets pay as he laced a double down the right-field line to plate Adam Kohl and AJ King to give the Blue Jays a 3-1 lead. Austin Sacks later walked with the bases loaded to force in the fourth Hopkins run of the day.
• Gettysburg got to Bunting in the seventh as GC opened the inning with back-to-back singles. Bunting then got a strikeout, however, Decker singled to left to make the score 4-2. Jaspar Carmichael entered the game and struck out the first batter he faced, and after a passed ball put runners on second and third, the freshman got Dominick Gasparro to pop up to end the inning and keep JHU in the lead.
• The Blue Jays added an insurance run in the eighth on a Kutcher single to right that plated King and made the score 5-2.
• With a runner on first and two outs, Josh Hejka took over for Carmichael with a 1-2 count on Sean Murphy and his first pitch got Murphy swinging to end the inning. Hejka allowed a lead-off single in the ninth but retired the next three batters to seal the 5-2 Blue Jay victory.
