Men's Soccer Mutes McDaniel

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The men's soccer team shut out McDaniel 2-0 on Tuesday. Juniata dominated the Green Terror in shots 13-7 overall and was able to put two in the back of the net.

Throughout the first half, the Eagles saw opportunities but were unable to find the back of the net. The JC defense took control and only allowed three shots. Devon Angermeier (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) made great saves throughout the night. During a McDaniel breakaway, Angermeier found himself in a 1v1 situation and decided to come off his line to stop the Green Terror in the tracks.

The second half started with a bang with a Juniata goal off a corner in the first minute. Emmet Young (Swarthmore, PA / Strath Haven) played the perfect ball from the corner right to Henry Doherty's (Brunswick, Maine / Brunswick) head. Doherty won the ball in the air and placed the ball effortlessly in the corner of the net.

Young was still hungry from the assist and decided to take a shot himself in the 63rd minute. Young took the ball up the left side of the box and laid a perfect shot on the ground in the righthand side netting. Juniata finished the game with smart defense and possession to hold their shutout.

The Juniata men's soccer team returns to Gibbel Stadium to celebrate their senior day on Saturday, October 30, for a 4:00 game against Catholic.
