Women's Golf Takes Third at Ursinus Spring Invitational

READING, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's golf team recorded a third-place finish while hosting the Ursinus Spring Invitational on Thursday afternoon.

The Bears had five members compete at the Manor Golf Course, a par-70 course that stretches over 5,096-yards. Ursinus finished with a team tally of 421(+141), which marks as a season low for the team this season. Division II Kutztown University won the team title with a final total of 349 (+69), Jefferson University finished in second place with a final score of 387, while East Stroudsburg University rounded out the four-team field with a team tally of 438.

She finished just four shots shy of her season low performance of 89 at the Ursinus Fall Invitational in September of 2022. Chen opened with a par on the par-4 first hole and started strong on the opening nine holes sitting at a 45 midway through her round. She closed out her round recording bogeys on each of the final four par threes and tallied a 48 on the back nine.

Sophomore Elliot Schott collected a 13th place finish behind shooting a career-low of 103. Schott tallied a 52 on the front nine before closing out her round with a 51 over the final nine holes. Her highlight of the day came on the par-four 16th hole when she tallied a par on the hole that stretches over 274 yards.

Junior Rebecca Chernoff finished just behind Schott in 13th place recording a season-low score of 105. Chernoff tallied bogeys on the par-four 5th and par-five 9th holes and finished her first nine holes with a 56. She battled back over the final nine tees, tallying a par on the par-three 13th hole and a birdie on the par-four 16th hole to finish with a 49 on the back nine.

Sophomore Charlotte DiLello placed 16th overall while shooting a season-low of 120 (+50). DiLello was consistent throughout her round finishing with a 60 on each side of the clubhouse while closing out her round with three bogeys. First-year Makenna Foder opened her spring season with a 17th place finish signing for a 145.

The Bears return to action on Saturday as they travel to the Albright College Invitational at the Golden Oaks Golf Club.
