GETTYSBURG, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Cross Country recorded its best team finish at the Centennial Conference Championship since 2005 by placing third overall on Saturday.

Led by an All-Centennial Conference effort from junior Emma Novak, Swarthmore tallied up 85 points. The Garnet finished behind runner-up Dickinson and championship-winning Johns Hopkins.

Novak posted a time of 22:56.9 for the 6K race, crossing the finish line in 11th place and earning All-Conference honors by finishing in the top-14. Novak had finished 34th at last year's championship and has improved her time by nearly two minutes.

Teammates Nora Blodgett and Phoebe Whiteside were close behind and finished in the top 20 overall. Blodgett's 16th place time of 23:16.5 scored her 12 points for the Garnet. She finished just a tenth of a second ahead of Whiteside who scored 13 for Swarthmore.

Sophomore Rose Teszler registered a time of 23:37.3 for the 18th score. Freshman Ella Shenkar factored into Swarthmore's team score by posting a time of 24:23.4 and a score of 31. Junior Sierra Sweeney and senior Hannah Gutow rounded out Swarthmore's top seven with times of 24:30.2 and 25:02.3.

The Garnet averaged a time of 23:30.2. Course conditions were pleasant, 50 degrees and sunny with 5 mile per hour winds.   

Swarthmore prepares for the NCAA Regionals at Lehigh on Nov. 16.
