Despite solid efforts in the circle, the Muhlenberg softball team wrapped up Centennial Conference play with a doubleheader loss at Dickinson.
Sophomore
Sophie Chong and freshman
Cora Bridgers combined to allow just one earned run in the two games against the Red Devils (20-14, 11-3), who are in first place in the CC.
Chong retired the side in order in three of her six innings and gave up only a single in two of the others. But in the third, two errors contributed to a five-run inning that was the difference in a 5-1 loss.
Bridgers tossed a four-hitter in the nightcap. Two of the hits were doubles in the fourth inning, bringing in the lone run in the 1-0 game.
A two-out single by freshman
Genna Cicchetti drove in the Mules' only run of the day in the second inning of the opener.Â
The best scoring chance for Muhlenberg (18-20, 3-13) in Game 2 came with runners on second and third in the sixth, but Cicchetti's long drive was caught just in front of the fence in left field.
Senior
Kristy Selby had three hits in the doubleheader, and freshman
Sarah Raab doubled in each game.
