Men’s T&F Puts Up Stellar Results on First Day of Danny Curran Invitational

CHESTER, PA. - Competing down at Widener University, the Swarthmore men's track & field team had a solid first day outing at the Danny Curran Invite on Friday, Mar. 31.

Taking on over fifty teams, including Centennial rival Haverford College, the Garnet competed in four events, fielding athletes in 5000m, the discus throw, the shot put and the triple jump.

On the track, Swarthmore saw two top 25 performances in the 5000m, with junior Sam Brody finishing 16th at 15:13.26 and sophomore Rowan Orlijan-Rhyne placing 23rd at 15:28.26. Both runners had excellent outings, as Brody's time was fast enough to finish first in his heat, while Orlijan-Rhyne obliterated his own personal best, crossing the finish line nearly a minute faster than he ever had in a Garnet uniform.

Moving over to throws, senior Julio Del Cid finished 28th in the discus with a mark of 28.54m, and placed 26th in the shot put with his mark of 12.24m

Closing out the day with jumps, first year Jeremy Amankwah represented the Garnet in the triple jump, placing 15th with a mark of 12.24m.
