How It Happened…
  • First Half
    • The 2019 NCAA Division III National Runner-Ups in Swarthmore boosted a commanding 21-4 spurt through the first eight minutes.
    • The Bullets bounced back as senior Nick Lord (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) drained back-to-back three-pointers to pull the Bullets within 14 (24-10) with 9:29 showing.
    • Both the Bullets and Garnet were feeling it from down deep as the two team's combined five three's during the next five-minute span, where Gettysburg conducted a 16-13 rally.
    • Vinny Deangelo sank a pair from the free throw line on the next possession, but Williams followed with a good ole fashion three-point play to cut the deficit back down to 13 (26-13). Antolini assembled 10 of the Bullets' 16 points during the run.
    • After that, the Bullets were unable to keep the offensive flow as Swarthmore closed the half with an 11-2 run to head into intermission with a 48-28 advantage.
    • The Garnet finished 17-of-30 (56.7 percent) from the field and 7-of-14 (50 percent) from three-point territory.
  • Second Half
    • Gettysburg was first to score in the final half as Antolini connected on a jumper, but the Garnet out-scored the Bullets 15-10, including a pair of trey's, in the opening five minutes to lead 63-38.
    • A jumper by junior Alex Leder (Bethesda, Md./Bullis) made it 65-40 with 13:34 to go, but the Garnet continued with the hot hands and led by 28 or more the rest of the way.
    • The Bullets marched on to a 12-5 run in the final six minutes, holding the Garnet scoreless for nearly four minutes to close the half.
By the Numbers
  • Gettysburg went 10-of-11 (90 percent) from the free throw line and went 23-of-61 (37.7 percent) from the field. Swarthmore posted its third consecutive and fourth overall game shooting above 50 percent field goals, finishing today at 56.3 percent (36-of-64). The Garnet also hit 15-of-33 (45.5 percent) from beyond the arc.
  • The last time the Bullets faced a top-ranked conference opponent was back in 1996 against Franklin & Marshall College.
  • The Garnet out-rebounded the Bullets 45-22
  • Antolini has produced double-figure scoring in four of the last five games.
Where the Series Stands
Swarthmore posted its fifth-straight victory over Gettysburg. The Bullets last defeated the Garnet on Jan. 28, 2017, in Swarthmore, Pa. by the final score of 76-65. The Orange and Blue hold the 29-22 all-time series that started in 1906.
