Bears Fall at Swarthmore 3-0

SWARTHMORE, Pa – The Ursinus College women's volleyball team traveled on the road Tuesday night to Centennial Conference opponent Swarthmore.

The Garnet were able to take the early momentum in set one, due in large part to Trisha Razdan, whose third kill in the match made the score 12-4. After an attack error on Swarthmore, Katie Cressman and the Bears answered back with two kills of her own, and an ace from Megan Aube made the score 15-8 Swarthmore. The Garnet answered with a timeout, and never looked back winning the first set 25-12.

Swarthmore carried the momentum into the second set where they lead 12-5. Kills from Katie Cressman and Caroline Sherman turned the tide as the Bears went on a 5-1 run. Swarthmore would increase their lead to 18-11 after a kill from Alexa Bartlett. Ursinus would go on a run itself, capitalizing on Swarthmore's mistakes and kills from Cressman and Luca Walborn made the score 20-18 Garnet. Hannah Humphreys and Jordan Perry would each collect a kill to finish off the Bears in set two 20-25.

Ursinus jumped out to an early 8-7 lead in the third frame, but Swarthmore would pick up 10 of the next 12 points and lead 17-10. The Garnet closed out the match 25-12, after they capitalized on a few errors by the Bears. Ursinus was led by Katie Cressman who finished with 8 kills and 15 digs.

The Bears will hit the road Saturday to play McDaniel at 12PM.
