WINCHESTER, Va. - On Sunday, the McDaniel College women's track & field team returned to competition for the first time since Dec. 4 as it competed at the Kaye & JJ Smith Invitational hosted by Shenandoah.
Senior
Bailey Mullen took home the win in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:33.48 while freshman
Anna Rando placed third in the 200-meter dash in 28.41 seconds. Rando also placed 6th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.36 seconds and sixth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.46 seconds which was good enough for eighth on McDaniel's top-10 performers list.
Senior
Gabby Collins had a fourth place showing in the 200-meter dash in 28.49 seconds and a 10th-place finish in the 60-meter with a mark of 8.47 seconds.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Mullen, senior Megan O'Neill, freshman Piper Nagaraj, and junior Ashley Siebenhaar placed third with a time of 10:42.66. The 4x400-meter relay team of Collins, Mullen, O'Neill and junior Yeseniah Ortiz claimed fourth in 4:29.85 while the 'B' relay of freshman Anna Kale, sophomore Emily Paulson, sophomore Jasmine Porter, and senior Renee Dupre finished in sixth with a time of 4:54.88.
O'Neill also finished seventh in the 800 meters while Siebenhaar placed eighth. Meanwhile, Dupre placed ninth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.35 meters and also placed 11th in the long jump. She also set a new personal-best in the shot put at 7.50 meters.
Ortiz came in eighth with a time of 28.88 seconds in the 200 meters while Kale finished 10th in the 800 in a time of 2:54.63.
Freshman Ameerah Johnson made her debut with a sixth-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 10.10 meters, a mark that ranks eighth on the McDaniel top-10 performers list.
McDaniel returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Coach I Invitational hosted by Franklin & Marshall.
