ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. - The Swarthmore College golf team battled through challenging weather as the Garnet opened play in the first round of the McDaniel Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Swarthmore sits in fourth place out of 18 teams with a team score of 320 on the afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Ankur Malik tied for third overall as he carded a 76 (+4) to open play. Malik sits three strokes behind the leader heading into the final day of the tournament.

Ben Lee broke the top-20 with a score of 80 (+8) to open play. The sophomore currently sits in 17th overall with eight other competitors.

Gyan Bains and
Michael Brown rounded out the Garnet scorers as they tied for 34th overall. Both golfers tallied an 82 (+10) in the opening round.
Chad Kemmerer also competed for Swarthmore with a score of 83 (+11).
