MEDIA, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Cross Country kicked off the 2019 season with the Bryn Mawr Invitational 5K at Rose Tree Park on Friday night. Swarthmore had three runners in the top 10 and had five score in the top 15.
The Garnet finished second place overall with an average time of 21:22.35 and a score of 48.
Nora Blodgett, Emma Novak and Phoebe Whiteside finished sixth, seventh and eighth. Blodgett recorded a time of 21:09.85, Novak had a time of 21:12.10, and Whiteside registered a mark of 21:14.06.
Sophomore Rose Teszler and Tillie Ferguson took 13th and 14th with times of 21:37.59 and 21:38.12, respectively.
Freshmen Clara Halston and Ella Shenkar provided Swarthmore's sixth and seventh times and both finished in the top 20 (18th and 19th place).
Swarthmore hosts its alumnae meet on Sept. 14.
