CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's swimming team continued a solid start to the season by winning nine races en route to a comfortable 157-92 non-conference win over the visiting Susquehanna University River Hawks on Saturday afternoon at the Clarke Aquatic Center.
The Devils began the day with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with the unit of
Nolan Chenot,
Daulton Kendall,
Reid Schattgen, and
Justin Wong clocking in at 1:39.87 to edge out the team of
Frederico Colloca-Bianchi,
Avery Coonin,
Aaron Stern, and
Sunil Surprenant and their 1:46.39.
Dickinson went one-two during the 1000-yard freestyle with
Alexander Kanard laying claim to the title 10:23.36, followed by
Aidan Keillor at 10:36.75.
First-year
James Wright took the top spot for the 200-yard freestyle as he touched the wall in 1:47.46, to beat out
Daniel Vasquez and his 1:51.73.
Ben Lilly seized fourth in the race at 1:58.85.
A pair of DC athletes sandwiched a River Hawk during the 100-yard backstroke as Colloca-Bianchi won the race in 58.28, while
Connor Frederickson landed in third (1:04.17).Â
Dickinson took up third through fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke thanks to the trio of Wong (1:04.72), Chris Burmaster (1:09.06), and Frederickson (1:15.05).Â
Schattgen kept up his winning ways by besting the field during the 200-yard butterfly at 2:02.19, while first-years
Paul Florio and
Andrew Kelley held down third (2:06.80) and fourth (2:07.38) respectively.
Kendall claimed the top spot in the next two men's races winning the 50-yard freestyle in 22.16, prior to earning the top spot during the 100-yard freestyle at 48.93.Â
Two of the three podium slots belonged to the Red and White in the 200-yard backstroke as Colloca-Bianchi grabbed second (2:01.95) and Vasquez took up third (2:08.66).
Patrick Dunn finished fifth at 2:23.15.
Wong picked up his first win of the day during the 200-yard breaststroke thanks to a time of 2:21.52, while Stern finished third with a 2:35.90.
The podium was filled with Devils for the 500-yard freestyle as Wright grabbed his second victory of the day in 4:55.86 to hold off Kanard by a second (4:56.27). Keillor claimed third by stopping the clock at 5:08.30.
Schattgen and Chenot went "one-two" during the 100-yard butterfly with times of 55.30 and 55.51 respectively.
In the 200-yard individual medley Vasquez and Kelley claimed second (2:05.84) and third (2:07.62).
