HAVERFORD, Pa. – In the final tune-up before the Centennial Conference Championships, five victories led the Swarthmore College Women's Track and Field team at the Keogh Invitational on Saturday.
Rose Teszler,
Sydney Covitz,
Phoebe Whiteside,
Nora Blodgett and
Clay Conley recorded victories in their respective events.
Teszler crossed the finish line in a conference best time of 2:21.75 for a first place finish in the 800-meter run.
Pauline McMurry notched a time of 2:29.56, while
Sierra Sweeney crossed in 2:30.14.
In the 400-meter run, Covitz notched a career best time of 1:00.86. The victory ranks the senior fourth in the Centennial Conference for the 400-meter event. Leila Kirton added a time of 1:06.39.
Whiteside earned the victory in the mile with a time of 5:23.75.
Quinn Basewitz added a time of 5:29.07 for a second place finish, while
Maddie Farber crossed in 5:48.19.
The 3,000-meter run saw Blodgett cross in first place, while Catherine Crochunis-Brown finished in third place. Blodgett notched a time of 10:45.34, and Crochunis-Brown crossed in a personal best time of 11:31.38.
Conley notched a best throw of 13.55 meters (44'-5.5") in the shot put event.
Adria Retter added a second place finish with another collegiate best mark of 12.84 meters (42'-1.5"), while
Naomi Bronkema, 10.35m (33'-11.5"), and
Maya Zimmerman, 9.22m (30'-3"), closed out the Swarthmore throwers. Conley and Retter continue to sit atop the conference list in the shot put event.
Zimmerman and
Lily Fournier added marks of 4.60m (15'-1.25") and 4.27m (14'-0.25") in the long jump.
Swarthmore returns to action Saturday, February 29th in day one of the Centennial Conference Championships at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa.
