#14 UMW Women's Lacrosse falls to #6 Franklin & Marshall, 11-9, on Saturday

The 14th ranked University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team fell to 6th ranked Franklin and Marshall, 11-9, on Saturday afternoon.

The Diplomats got on the board first, scoring two minutes into play. Senior Paige Haskins would get the Eagles on the board, scoring her first of the game two minutes later. F&M fired in a shot two minutes to give the lead back to the Diplomats. Senior Morgan Shorts quickly tied the game up with her first goal of the day. The Diplomats would then go on a four goal run before Shorts would add her second of the day. Freshman Kayla Sarazin added her first of the day with 37 seconds remaining in the first half to take the Eagles into half down 6-4.

F&M would start the second half with four goals, giving them a 10-4 lead. Sarazin would add her second of the day. The Diplomats would add their last goal of the day at 15:41 before the Eagles took control. Shorts added her third of the day off of a free position. Haskins would follow seven minutes later with another goal, followed by another assisted by Sarazin. Shorts would add her final goal of the day at the 1:48 mark to bring the Eagles within 2.

Sophomore Reilly Miller recorded 15 saves in the net. The Diplomats led in draw controls 14-8, as well as shots 30-19.

The Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday when they visit Meredith College at 4:30pm.
