SWARTHMORE, Pa.—No. 1 Swarthmore College Men's Basketball fought off the TCNJ Lions 88-81 on Wednesday night in the 2019-20 home opener.
Sophomore guard George Visconti led the Garnet with 24 points on 8-of-15 shooting, including 4-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc. Zac O'Dell scored 12 points while pulling down 13 rebounds for his third double-double in as many games. Colin Shaw pitched in 11 points and seven rebounds.
Overall, the Garnet shot 42.6 percent from the floor, and hit 32.1 percent of their long-range attempts. The Garnet spent a lot of time at the line in the second half as TCNJ fouled consistently in an effort to stop the clock and get more possessions. The Garnet shot 21-of-26 (80.8 percent) from the stripe in the game.
The Garnet held onto a double-digit lead with 41 seconds remaining in the game but TCNJ was able to pull within six points with 15 seconds to go to keep things interesting.
Swarthmore (3-0) faces Stockton University at home on Saturday at 6 p.m.
