Two school records highlighted a strong opening day of the 2021-22 season at two sites for the Muhlenberg track and field teams.
Juniors
John Panny and
Elek Ferency set school records in the long jump and weight throw, respectively, at Lehigh's Fast Times Before Finals meet. Panny hit the sand at 22-4¼, placing second and breaking the previous mark of 22-3, which had stood since 2003. Ferency also came in second, increasing his own school record from 45-7 to 50-3½.
Senior
Ben Arehart came in second in the high jump, joining Panny and Ferency as regional qualifiers. Arehart cleared the bar at an indoor personal best of 6-4¾, moving into a tie for second on the all-time performance list.
Ferency placed fourth in the shot put with the ninth-best mark (44-9½) in program history. Four other throwers placed their names on the all-time performance list in the weight throw - junior

Senior
Kayleigh Durning (pictured above right) finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles, lowering her personal best from 9.91 to 9.58.
The Mules also sent several distance runners to Franklin & Marshall's Diplomat Open. Sophomore
Nathan Reimer won the mile, and senior
Pat Smurla placed second in the 5K. Freshmen
Ellen Maguire (1000 meters)Â and
Lauren House (mile) both logged seventh-place finishes for the wonmen.
Muhlenberg's teams combined for 17 Centennial Conference Championships qualifiers.
