O’Shea Registers Hat Trick as Bullets Soar Past Bryn Mawr

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Freshman Molly O'Shea (Reading, Pa./Wilson) registered her first career hat trick while five other Bullets scored a goal as the Gettysburg College women's soccer team defeated Bryn Mawr College 8-1 in a Centennial Conference (CC) match on Saturday afternoon at Applebee Field.

O'Shea becomes the 11th individual player in the history of the program to accomplish a hat trick in a match. The last time a Bullets player displayed a hat trick was on September 3, 2011 when Rachel West did it against Susquehanna University. Gettysburg posted the team's highest scoring output since an 8-1 victory over Bryn Mawr last season. It was also the most goals scored by Gettysburg versus a Centennial Conference opponent since Bryn Mawr in 2017.

Freshman Erika Muskus (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains Fanwood) added one goal and one assist for Gettysburg, which owned a 36-2 shot advantage.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kerry Sammon (Pearl River, N.Y./Academy of the Holy Angels) started the match and made one save, while freshman Madelyn Cunningham (Mount Airy, Md./Linganore) saw action in the second-half between the pipes.

Leah Baer and Carlie Hansen gathered eight saves each for the Owls (1-6-2, 0-3 CC).

O'Shea netted the first two goals for the Bullets at the seven and 16 minute markers in the opening half. Eight minutes later, the Owls scored their lone goal of the match off a shot from the top of the penalty box. Gettysburg tacked on the final goal of the half from junior Isabel Klatt (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) as she kicked the ball into the center of the net for her first tally of the season.

A minute and a half into the second-half, freshman Maeve Regan (Breezy Point, N.Y./Poly Prep) recorded her first career goal, while fellow freshman Lily Melink (Cincinnati, O.H./Summit Country Day) also corralled her first career tally three minutes later.

Muskus, senior Lauren Miesemer (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City), and O'Shea closed off the scoring affair for the Bullets at the 59th, 69th, and 80th minute, respectively.

Freshman Christina DiGiulio (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria), freshman Emma Bedell (Chatham, N.J./Mount Saint Mary), and sophomore Claire Nagel (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) each dished an assist.

Gettysburg held the 11-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Gettysburg returns to the pitch next Saturday as they visit Haverford College for a Centennial Conference match at 1:00 p.m.
