th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team opened Centennial Conference play with a big win Saturday, topping host and 15
th-ranked Swarthmore, 9-0.

How it Happened
• Hopkins jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a sweep of the doubles to take early control of the match. In a battle of two of the top doubles teams in the Atlantic South, sophomore
Anjie Kashyap and junior
Sophia Strickland edged Sonia Varma and Julia Gokhberg, 8-7 (6), at first.
• Senior
Kimberly Zou and sophomore
Dhanya Asokumar beat Elise Talley and Christina Wang, 8-4, at second. And at third, senior
Katie Gauch and freshman
Evelyn Chang defeated Shirline Wee and Sophie Brown, 8-5.
• Kashyap dropped just one game in singles' play as she beat Varna at first. Strickland rallied to defeat Emma Kassan 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 at second. Zou picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win over Brown at third.
• Chang defeated Wang 7-5, 6-1 at fourth and Asokumar clinched the win with a 6-2, 6-3 defeat of Talley at fifth. Freshman
Jessica Liang also won in straight sets, beating Wee 6-3, 6-0 at sixth.

What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 28-18 all-time against Swarthmore and has won 19 straight in the series.
• The Blue Jays have now won 121 regular season Centennial Conference matches in a streak that dates to March 17, 2007.
• Strickland moves into the top-25 in school history with her 33
rd career singles win. She is also tied for 21
st with 69 career combined wins (33 singles, 36 doubles). Zou is now tied for 12
th in school history with 43 career doubles wins
