LAKELAND, Fla. - Swarthmore College Softball made quick work of Beloit College and the University of New England on Sunday, beating them 16-2 and 10-2, respectively. Both games ended after five innings.
GAME ONE: Swarthmore 16, Beloit 2 (5 innings)
Swarthmore plated eight in the top of the first and four in the second, giving the Buccaneers no chance to take a lead. Five Garnet players had RBIs in the first inning: sophomore

Gwen Glatz, sophomore
Victoria Overbeck, senior
Elizabeth Curcio and junior
Gabriella Natoli.
Glatz went 3-for-4 with five RBIs, two doubles and a walk. Senior
Hannah Thompson batted ninth and led the team with four hits in all four of her at bats. She scored three runs. Senior
Marit Vike went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four runs scored and a walk.
Sophomore
Maddie Bowe earned the win pitching four innings of two-run softball.
The Garnet had 15 hits.
GAME TWO: Swarthmore 10, New England 2 (5 innings)
Swarthmore was able to end this one in five innings thanks in large part to sophomore
Lucy Decker's performance in the circle. She pitched the whole game and allowed one hit and one earned run while striking out three.
The Garnet trailed 1-0 heading into the bottom of the first, but Natoli and Overbeck drove in runs to give their team a 3-1 advantage.
Junior
Kalli Segel and freshman
Laura Hirai had two hits apiece for Swarthmore in the seventh and eighth spots in the lineup.
The Garnet are 3-0, and they play two more games on Monday in Kissimmee, Fla. The first one is against Keene State at 12 p.m., and the second is versus the College of Mount Saint Vincent at 2:15 p.m.
