ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Senior
Danny Harcourt (Fanwood, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) closed out a strong opening round Saturday morning and backed it up with a solid second round despite windy conditions in the afternoon to take the 36-hole lead at the Centennial Conference Men's Golf Championship at Brookside Country Club.
Gettysburg heads into Sunday's final round third in the team standings. Swarthmore College is out in front with 627 (307-320) after 36 holes, with McDaniel College second at 636 (321-315). The Bullets have scored 642 (319-323) with Franklin & Marshall College just one stroke behind at 643 (321-322).
Harcourt capped the opening round with a two-stroke lead in the individual standings Saturday morning, firing a two-over 73 on the strength of five birdies. The Gettysburg senior battled strong wind gusts to card 79 in the second round and finished the first 36 holes with a three-stroke lead over Vamsi Damerla and Nick DiMaio from Swarthmore College. Harcourt is vying to be Gettysburg's first conference medalist since
Peter Ruymann '11 in 2011.
Senior
Dane Sethre-Hofstad (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead) finished his opening round with an 81 and shaved off one stroke in round two to shoot up the leaderboard five places into a tie for 11th. After going without a birdie in the first round, Sethre-Hofstad posted birdies on the par-4, 326-yard No. 6 and the par-5, 479-yard No. 13.
Sophomore
Quinn Greene (New Milford, Conn./Canterbury School) posted a trio of birdies in his opening around on the way to an 80 and followed up with an 83 in round two. Greene is tied for 16th with a total score of 163.
Freshman
Tristan Hochman (Westport, Conn./Staples) cut two strokes off his round one score to card an 83 in the second round. Hochman carded an 85 in his opening round and is tied for 24th with a 168.
Sophomore
Daniel Rieger (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) shot a 91 in his first 18 holes, but he bounced back with a solid 81 amidst the unfavorable conditions in round two. Rieger is tied for 27th with 172 entering the final round.
Opening tee times for the final round of the CC Championship are set for 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
